Houses. Vocabulary preparation.  Don’t use your dictionary now.

In Picture 1, the tree is obstructing the road. It is blocking traffic.

      Article: The front and rear doors were in a straight line, without any obstruction.

In Picture 2, the two people are facing each other and talking.

      Article: Some Chinese people think it is very bad when the foot of the bed faces the door, because this is how the Chinese position (=put, place) dead people on the bed, with their feet toward the door.

Picture 3 shows people hiking up a path to the mountains.

      Picture 4 shows a robber escaping out the window.

      Article: A straight path from the front door to the back door allows cosmic¹ energy² to escape.  ¹ 宇 宙 的, космический         ² 能 源, энергия  

The man in Picture 5 is not wearing suitable clothes for swimming. He needs a swimsuit instead.

      Article: Thinking about the house that he had looked at, Mr. Ho recalled, “It was difficult to find a suitable place to put the bed.”

Picture 6 shows the layout of the cover of a magazine.  The title is on the top, and there is a picture in the lower part of the page. On the sides, there is some art work.

      Article: The layout of the house was unlucky. The position of the furniture and design of the rooms were not good.

In Picture 7, the woman is lean. In Picture 8, the woman isn’t lean.

      Article: He is a lean man with gray hair.
